Director of Software QA Engineering

Build and lead cohesive, high-performing QA teams dedicated to upholding the quality of software products. Ensure your teams provide thorough test coverage, using both manual and automated testing methods. Collaborate closely with Software Engineering Managers to align QA activities and timelines. Strategically allocate resources to manage multiple concurrent software projects. Track and report on project progress, offering early warnings if timelines are at risk. Act as the quality gatekeeper for all software releases, guiding the approval process to maintain high standards. Set clear team objectives, goals, and quality metrics, and regularly communicate these targets while tracking progress. Oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the testing infrastructure, making critical decisions on QA architecture. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by measuring team performance and implementing feedback loops. Support the onboarding and training of new managers and team leads, identifying and addressing their development needs. Focus on the professional growth of your managers and team members, ensuring their skills and careers continue to advance.

Proven leadership in managing software QA teams, with experience at both single-team and multi-team levels. Expertise in modern testing methodologies, techniques, and quality metrics. Experience in both manual and automated QA processes. Knowledgeable in testing firmware, SDKs, mobile apps, and server applications. Strong understanding of Agile development and the software lifecycle. Excellent organizational and resource planning skills. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automated QA technologies across multiple areas like firmware, SDKs, mobile apps, and servers. Hands-on experience in creating automated QA tests, ideally with a background in software development. Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of Linux and Windows; familiarity with C, C++, Android, and iOS is a plus. Experience with Windows driver qualification (WHQL). Background in testing and qualifying PC peripherals or electronic devices. Experience in biometric systems development. Experience working with global teams. Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience. At least 4 years as a Software QA manager. Language Skills: Proficient in English, both verbal and written. Ability to interpret technical documentation. Knowledge of Czech or Slovak is a plus.
